Kos is connected by coastal shipping with the rest of   the Dodecanese islands,  the islands of the North East Aegean and with Crete.  It is also connected by air with Athens daily.   It has a modern road network which connects the town of Kos with the islands many picturesque villages. kos map

Kos is situated in the Aegean sea very close to the    South West coast of Asia Minor.  The distance from Pireaus Port (Athens) is 219 miles and 64 miles from Rhodes.

Kos is the third largest island of the Dodecanese.  It is distinguished for its marvellous harbour, endless shorelines, magnificent natural setting, cosmopolitan atmosphere and major important archaeological sites.  Kos has an area of 290 square kilometers and the length of its shoreline is 112 kilometers.  It has a population of 26,500.

It is divided into three major Municipalities: the Municipality of Kos (which is the largest and oldest - the capital of the island), the Municipality of Heraklides and the Municipality of Dikeos.  Its fertile flat land is blessed with lushness and an abundance of water.  Kos in the east region rises to 875 meters at Mount Dikeos and to 428 meters at Mount Sympetro.  In the west region it rises to 428 meters at Mount Latra.
